an association of 23 churches reaching our area for Christ
The Greater Wabash Baptist Association exists to encourage and equip churches to fulfill the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:19-20)
The Association seeks to fulfill this reason for existence by:
A. Encouraging churches to cooperate together.
B. Providing leadership development.
C. Promoting church vitality.
D. Facilitating mission involvement.
Preparations are underway for our GWBA Annual Meeting which will be held at Carmi FBC on
September 20 beginning at 3:30 p.m. There will be an evening meal followed by an evening session.
Theme:
Celebrate God’s Blessings
Philippians 4:4-5
In addition to the regular business of the association, two key points will be brought to the messengers for vote this year: the acceptance of Olney Southern Baptist Church into the GWBA family and the vote on Jay Loucks as the GWBA Associational Mission Strategist.
Olney Southern Baptist Church has made an official request to join the fellowship and work of Greater Wabash Baptist Association and will be presented for vote during our annual meeting.
The GWBA AMS Search Committee has spent the last few months meeting, praying, and going through their committee duties. They discussed a biblical framework for what an AMS position should look like and who would be a good candidate for the position. They interviewed Bro. Jay Loucks for the position and found him to fit the position well. The committee was unanimous in their decision to recommendhim. Their recommendation will be voted on during our annual meeting.
We are honored to have Dr. Scott Foshie, the Executive Director of the Illinois
Baptist State Association as this year’s keynote speaker during the evening session. Scott was elected the 12th Executive Director of IBSA in December of 2025. In his introductory remarks to the board when he was presented for the candidacy, he said We need a vision of impacting lostness with the light of the gospel together. As he’s traveled our state in the past eight months he has not wavered from that vision.
Come to our annual meeting eager to hear from Scott.
I would also encourage you to follow Scott on Facebook where you’ll be able to catch his weekly video called Fridays with Foshie.
