GWBA Missions Day

March 22, 2025

We are Missionary Baptists and we believe that every Christian can be involved in missions. We are looking forward to GWBA Missions Day on Saturday, March 22nd. We envision this being a day when people of all ages can be involved in a mission project. First Baptist Church in Fairfield will be our host church. Registration opens at 8:30. We will begin our mission assignments at 9:00 AM and will return to the church by 12:00 PM where a meal will be provided and we will have a time of missions sharing.

Our Missions and Ministry Team has some simple and practical projects planned. Projects are suitable for all ages and abilities, meaning they are simple, but they are also important and significant. Early spring is the time when yards need cleaning up from the sticks and debris left by winter. Those of us who are able might give little thought to this task, but if you are elderly or for other reasons unable to do this task it is a great physical burden and/or a great expense. This is a project that even school age children with minimal supervision can be involved in.

Another project we are planning is to replace batteries in people’s smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. In the event they do not have these devices we have acquired some and are able to donate them and install them in households. We would do this in small groups of 2-3 people either going to homes of people who have already requested this service or going door to door and offering the service.

We will focus these projects in the communities of Fairfield, Sims, Mill Shoals, and Wayne City. We will work with the churches in these communities to coordinate the best way to conduct these events.

We will also do a project at our host church where will assemble food boxes. At the conclusion of the Missions Day event these boxes will be sent home with the participating churches to distribute in their communities. In order to know how many food boxes will be needed, we‘re asking each participating church to determine who they will deliver food boxes to and let us know how many food boxes they need. The food for these food boxes will come from the food bank and we will purchase some of the items. We will also be asking our churches to donate food. We think the best way to coordinate the donations is to assign different churches a particular non-perishable food item to bring. We can also accept cash donations for the food items.

It is of utmost importance that our churches begin now promoting this missions opportunity and recruiting people to come. Obviously, it is helpful if you register by letting us know the number and names and age group of the people who will be coming from your church.

Our Missions and Ministry team is working on this event and we will be communicating more details about this soon.
